Known as the ‘Spice Island’, Zanzibar was once the world’s leading clove producer, and still maintains a strong export market in spices. Today tourism is a growing sector as more people visit the fantastic scenery and fusion of cultures available on these islands. It also offers some of the best diving experiences in East Africa and the historic Stone Town old city which has remained virtually untouched for the last 200 years.
